Hand Feeding Black Ghost Knife Fish

hey everyone. i was reading about care of my black ghost knife fish and noticed that someone could hand feed his? how can i teach mine to do this? is it hard or will he pretty much swim right up? any info? thanks.

It's not hard, just put your hand with the food in it up to his hiding spot, and he will most likely start pecking at the food. Mine is too shy to mix with the others at feeding time, so I either hold my hand there, or just depost the food into his hidey hole. Good luck. Let us know how you get on.

When I got my Ghost Knife, the guy told me his was 1ft long and very tame so told me how to do it!

You start by holding food just where he hides and he'll eventually start coming out to peck at it there. Once you've done that you simply start moving your hand further away from his hidey hole each time you feed him. Now I put my hand in the tank at feeding time and he just swims straight out to the top with the others, still takes the food from my hand too. He's started to do a little wiggle on my hand too!!!
