Hairy Crabs ?

am i right in thinking that these little critters are bad

just finished work did a little gander at my tank and arggghghhhh what the hell is that thought it was a spider at first any way taken it out and put in sump will it die in the with no food no algae growth in sump yet new setup!!

if so what should i do i post pic laters when i wake up for a possible id might not tho cos it is really small bout the size of a 2p

Post pics. Sumps are one of the best places for most dadgy crabs, and they'll get as much food there as they would in the main tank

If you are worried, you could drop some meaty frozen foods in for him

Dont worry about the crab dieing they are very hardy and tuff creatures, after all they do survive the trip from the natural reef all the way 2 our homes as additions to our LR!

Anyways I found a similar crab in my LR once and placed it into my my newly set-up QT tank in which it totally disapeared and i assumed it had died. anyways i as i didnt use the QT tank after for a whle I didnt bother with it and switched everything off leaving the water and equipment in there etc. Then about 3months later I decided to give the tank a good clean before I got some more fish and low and behold I saw the little crab in there still alive and well! Almost gave me a heart attack and i felt so guilty so first thing i did was to stick a small piece of mussel in which it immediately pounced on and carried away behind a piece of rock in the tank!

I still cant believe the crab had survived 3+months in the QT tank with no heat, food, light, clean water or anything!

also do these look healthy or is it just it is a new setup and the feeling the effects of the cycle when i got the rock in it was fine they where all open but then a few days later prob when ammonia stated to rise they havent opened since could this be the explanation

The polyps were probably a little peeved off by the ammonia from the cycle but will likely recover. Just give em time
