Has anyone ever used a Hagen Junior Bottom Filter. It says there for up to 10gallons. It doesn't have to be the specific name just the same type of filter, one of the bottom ones. If you've used one what is your oppinion on it?

These type of filters are adequate for small aquariums. However I question their ability to handle a large bio load. I blame this kind of filtration for contributing to the failure of many novices who get them in "package" kits at the local Mart.

For the cost of one of these and an air punp to run it, you could easily throw a few bucks more in the kitty and get a small Penguin or Regent for superior results. You would also get the added benefit of better water circulation.
