I recently bought the equiptment for a hospital tank, just in case. I got a small HOB filter, a 22L Glass aquarium, the support foam, and a Hagen Elite Mini Heater, the 50watt version.
The Hagen packaging claims this heater is suitable for up to a 38L Aquarium, so I figured that mine would be fine. I set up the heater, turned it until the light just turned on (As per instructions), then let it sit for 12 hours to heat the water.
At the end of the 12 hours: 20 Degrees Celcius, a bit too fridgid for my liking. So, I turned the (Unmetered) adjustment knob to the highest setting, and left for another 12 hours, this being overnight. When I checked on it the next morning, the temperture reached was: 16 Degrees Celcius.
Is this heater only capable of keeping an aquarium at room temperature? It was a quick purchace (Cheapest heater in the store, but I respect the brand), but it has an adjustment dial (Leading me to assume it's intended to be variable in temperature). Even if it's a single temp only, it seems to be... bad. 16 Degrees is *way* too low for it to be any good for me.
