Hello Everyone,
I have not been online for a while and this forum changed a lot. Look great I can not wait to see the renovations
I am back with a question. My largest female guppy has a curved back. She has always had it never had a problem with it. However I moved her from our 5 gallon tank which was too small for her I think to our 10 gal,
She has been in the tank for 2 days now and she looks like she has a problem. I have never had any type of sickness in the 5 gallon tank- it is an aquaponic tank but since I moved her it looks like it is harder for her to swim. She is on the bottom but just her tail is touching it otherwise she is swimming above it- she is breathing kind of fast. Looks like it is very hard for her to move her tail and every time she tries swimming up or around her tail seems heavier so it is hanging down.
I saw her eating only 1 time for those 2 days- today she went up only 2 times because the rest of the fish gets overexcited when I am feeding them and she needs time to maneuver around them but they are too fast so it looked like she tried to eat for a moment and then gave up.
I am not sure what is going on with her. I went with the normal procedure I did 50 % water change, added a little salt and added also tetra lifeguard, I know it isnt a good idea to use it for her because I am not sure what is wrong with her, but I noticed that another guppy I moved from the 5 gal tank to this one has a tiny white dot on the top of her head so I got worried that they are getting sick and I decided to do treatment just in case...
Back to this guppy another thing I noticed is that she did 2 times when she is breathing it looked like she sneezed - i know that is not possible and it looks like she had problem breathing or was trying to swim and wiggled strange so i just hope the salt works and the medicine too.
That tank has been with perfect water condition and no problems for at least 5 months now. One of my male guppies died 3 days ago but it was combined with another male guppy that died in the 5 gal tank and both of them looked healthy also were bought together over 8 months ago from wallmart... so i am thinking they might of been just old... Anyways I found this article http/en.allexperts...8/6/guppy-1.htm which sounds exactly like my female I just wonder if there is a way for me to help her start swimming normal again or is she just getting old or may be i have something going on in the tank...
Anyways let me know what you guys think could be done to help this guppy out.
She is almost 2 inches long and around 9 months old.
Have a good day
