What kinds of Guppies Rob? they are fairly easy to find unless your looking for specialist strains, in that case your best bet would be to contact the British livebearer association, most specialist clubs and associations are more than happy to help you source the fish you require, most of the time they will have a member breeding what you require.

thanks,

I have a bunch of guppies in my tank, I breed guppies. What are you looking for exactly? I do not breed anything specific. I enjoy buying very long talied males and as attractive as possible females, all of different colours and patterns and just see what I end up with. I have adults, teenagers (ha), and fry. I am due some fry soon too. If you would like to breed a specific strain, it's best to purchase 1 male to two females of the same strain, generally this is something you're not often able to do by going to an aquatics store (I work in one) and the female guppies and male guppies I order are from the same supplier, but when you see them you can tell immediately they are not from the same strain. Ebay is often a good place to start, you can even purchase guppy fry from a particular strain. Have a look on there and see what you can find. Let me know how you get on ;)

Yes im looking for breeding stock of specific strains, these are some I cant find, Red cobra delta, yellow cobra delta, Green Delta, Half black/white delta, :D

thanks,

Aquabid, yes, and if I am not mistaken I believe helterskelter on this fish fourm should be able to recommend some good ones for you...thats if I am not mistaken.

Depending on your location, nice fancy guppies can be easy or hard to find. True show quality guppies can be almost impossible for most people to find but slightly less quality fish are readily available on AB. I have been tempted over and over to buy some fish from vendors on AB but have so far resisted. I recognize that true show quality fish are quite hard to find and are quite expensive when you do find them. On the other hand, nearly show quality fish are not at all unusual and can be had for reasonable prices. It all depends on what you are looking for, in my way of looking at things. If you want to start with show quality fish and then improve on the fish you have obtained, some of the fish on AB are a worthwhile starting point. For most of us, those same fish are no better or worse than typical fancy guppies since we do not try to show our fish. The price difference vs. the fish's potential show points means nothing to most of us but a dedicated show breeder would find that difference well worthwhile paying for.
