Guppy Question

i have 2 hermit crabs currently in a 5 gallon tank. but im thinking about putting them in something smaller since they dont need so much room (there only tiny ones)

so do guppies need a filter? and heater?

and if i do this, i plan on breeding them. so what are some things that are important to do/have to make them happy

Yes Guppies do need a heater and filter. If you plan on breeding guppies you will need somthing much bigger than 5 gallons IMHO. Also you need to ask yourself why you want to breed guppies. Make shure you have a good reason, I see to many people purchase Live Bearers then not know what to do with the 20+ fry they produce every month. Hope this helped a little

well i plan on selling the fry. i managed to get 2 guppies last weekend away that are VERY colorful. and the people i know around here only have very plain guppies, and they said they'd buy some fry to add color in with theirs

Breeding guppies is very easy however always being able to get rid of the fry is harder sometimes. Most petstores will sell your fry as feeder fish if you give your fish to them. Also after a while your people who want guppies will not always be around to want them so you would need to find more people. Female guppies can have up to 20 more or less babies at a time. Now that is a lot of babies, because as she breeds more and more she'll have more babies.
Also guppies do need a filter for sure. A heater would be nice because it will keep their water at a consistent temperature. If you plan on breeding guppies be sure to have lots of room for all the babies to grow up.
(My sister tried breeding guppies as a science project, now we have over a hundred guppies in under a years time!)

Also your hermit crabs will need a larger cage as they grow. Hermit crabs do something that is called molting and althought their small now they will grow. Some grow as large as baseballs. Hermit crabs also like room to roam as they can travle miles at a time in one day.
