Well, I lost my first guppy yesterday, to complications in pregnancy, I think. She had never given birth in the two months I've had her, but she was pregnant the whole time.

What I'd like to know is, does anyone have any idea how this might be prevented in the future? I really liked that female and now I'll have to get another one to occupy my male since I'm down to one female, now.

Some just have problems. The best thing to do is keep the enviroment as stress free as possible. And also, don't buy very pregnant fish at the store. Main thing is stress, though. :)

Sorry about your girlie. :rip:

Hmm...there's a thought, although I don't think that was her problem, that she was pregnant from the store. *sigh* That's just not cool. At least I know my other female gives birth without too much trouble, 'cause I've got three babies of hers that are around two months old.

It happened to me too, I had a guppy that was pregnant for two mths, looked like she was going to burst, and the next day she was dead, i was tempted to do a ceaserean to see if any fry were still alive (only joking) I am in the stages of pregnancy with another guppy now though.
