So I have a 40 gallon breeder tank that I have set up for breeding platys and guppies to sell.
I have all my platys but I'm still looking for a desirable kind of guppy to breed.
What are your guys favorite types or ones that you think would sell good?

Breeding guppies and platies is so easy, that loads of people do it, therefore to actually sell any, you have to be seriously cheap. I'd suggest you research locally and see what others are selling - and choose something different.

Contact a show guppies group in your area and research what is rare... then aim to breed that type.

Also, how many tanks do you have cycled to use for breeding?  I used to know a lady that bred show guppies and she had an entire room full of tanks so she could separate them and match only the best specimens together.

I did my research and found that the stores in my area that I can sell fish to will buy guppies and platys at the highest price for the least amount of expense on my end.
I was going to breed cichlids only and I'm still doing that but I can make a lot more with the faster growing and breeding live bearers.

Im actually in the proses of setting up a tank room in my basement it will have five 20 gallon long tanks for breeding individual types.
Then five 10 gallon tanks for fry. Three 29 gallon tanks for cichlid grow out. A 55 gal and a 40 gal breeder tank for two groups of breeding cichlids.
All the tanks will have sponge filters run of a Alita AL-40 Linear Air Pump.
Anyways my set up will be very versatile so I can go with the flow of what my LFS wants to buy.
Thanks for the advice guys :)
