My guppy, Slick, has not been eating for the past couple of days. He hides by himself in various places, mostly on the top of the water. He isn't breathing heavily, and there are no visible signs of sickness, but there is definately something wrong! Please help! :-(

What are your water paramenters? ie: Ammonia, Nitrites, etc. You'll find that's what everyone in this forum will want to know first when dealing with a sick fish. Also - is he being bullied by any of your other fish? This can sometimes prevent a fish from eating, especially if he gets harassed during feeding time. Otherwise, make sure your water is ok. Good luck!

I don't have a water testing kit. I don't have any money for one either. I have 2 other guppies in the tank, and 3 Sunset Platies. They are all doing fine, but the one guppy is the only problem. I'm gonna bring a water sample to the pet store tomorrow. He isnt bullied by the other fish.

Very good idea to bring the water sample in if you don't have money for a test kit  - though I definitely recommend saving up for one, they are a necessity. How long has your tank been running? And how large is it? If it's still cycling that could of course be part of the problem.

I just got back from the fish store, and my ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, Ph, and chlorine are all fine, but Slick is still acting up!

Does Slick look unusally thin for a guppy (his belly looks sucked in?)

How long has he not eating for?

Are you sure it's not a female about to drop her babies? they usually look in plants etc so they know where to hide them so they don't be came food.

Are you sure it's a he?

Females are more colorful and bigger.

What is the temp of your tank? Maybe it's a dissolved oxygen problem. I would do a water change and see if he improves.

Is it possible he could have internal parasites?
None of my other fish have any problems, you think it would affect the others.

Its not a female, i got it from the store from the tank that said male. He hasn't been been eating for like a week now. No food goes in, no food goes out.

My temperature as of now is 74 degrees F. and doesn't variate much.

How often do you do water changes and how much?

Might be a dissolved oxygen problem if everything else looks good.

every 2 - 3 weeks, about 1/4 of the 10 gallon.
That doesn't sound bad at all. Maybe try doing it 15% a week and see how it goes?

Not that what you are doing is wrong, but maybe this could help. I admit, I'm stumped here.

Whatever it was, whether it be just because he wouldn't eat, or if he did have some kind of infection, doesn't matter anymore. down 1 more fish now
