For those out there that raise their guppy fry in a breeder net or grow out tank, at what AVERAGE age do you transfer them safely to the tank with the parents/ community fish? I know it would depend on whether or not they would fit in the mouths of the others..but if you were to average the age...what would it be?

i think it really depends on the temp. the number of fry and your tank in general, will they fit into the mouths of other fish? Will the other fish pick on them? will they have somewhere to hide? just a few general questions u can ask yourself before making the decision...

hope this helps

There's really no set time limit. As said, you're best guide is to take the other fish in the tank into consideration. Once the fry are big enough that they won't fit into the mouth of any fish in that tank, then you can safely transfer them back and know they won't be eaten. If you have plenty of plant coverage, you can sometimes chance it and transfer them back earlier, but they may not all survive.

i didn't put a vote in, cause i let my babies grow up in the tank. they have some java moss to hide in. i'm sure that not all of them make it, but i just emtied the tank to switch to sand, and there were about 10 in there, when i thought there was only 1-2!!! :D
