Hey i have a 10G tank and i am interested in getting some guppys, as i think they are pretty and exciting because of the amount of times they give birth.

I just wondered if a 10G tank would be big enough, because if it were to give birth every 2 months then im sure the tank would soon fill =\

the thing about livebearers is that you cant tell them when to stop breeding. After your tank is "full", and they keep having babies, what then?

very true, after a single mating the female can store enough sperm for upto 7 lots of fry, every 4 weeks which soon builds up

The one thing that you should think about the most is how often guppies breed every 4 weeks they can drop between 10-35 fry. So be prepared to go out spending money on breeding and rearing tanks or if your LFS dont mind sell them.

today i went out to buy the first fish for my newly cycled tank. i choose 2 female guppies and 1 snake skin male guppy and look what i found about 2 hours after introducing them

a little fry. there is about 3 in there i think. if you dont have the money to keep rehoming them just leave them in the tank with the parents and its basically survival of the fittest the weak ones will get ate and the strong ones will live then just keep them for about 6 weeks until they are big enough to go to a fish store. that is what i am doing. out of a batch of around 10 you will end up with 3 or 4 which wont be so difficult. as i have just been writing this post my female popped out a baby and before the baby could even uncurl and swim away the other female ate it thats a fish life
good luck
