I put my very pregnant guppy in a 5 gallon tank I had gotten from my brother (he had gotten it cycled but decided he didn't want the responsibility of taking care of fish) and turned into a breeder. She has been in there 2 days and has not released her babies yet. I think she's getting lonely without other guppies in with her. Should I put her back in the 10 gallon community?

It's your call. Does she look distressed? It really depends on how badly you want to keep the fry. Has she gone all squarish yet? That is a sign that she will be dropping soon.

She looks kind of does look a little squarish if you look at her right. She doesn't seem really distressed. In fact, this morning she looked like she was enjoying herself. And I kind of do want to keep the fry because it's her first batch. I guess I will keep her in there.

i have got 5 guppies in my breeder one and none have dropped yet..

mines are relatively small but they all look squarish to me..

been waiting over a week..

lets hope they come out soon..

i cant wait!!!! :D

GOOD LUCK with urs.. lets see who becomes a daddy/mummy first...

how long was the tank sitting idle for before using it as a breed? it may have un-cycled from the beneficial bacteria dying off from having no source of ammonia, i add a few drops of ammonia to my tanks which i have idle (some of which are still cycling but you should add ammonia yourself to tanks with no fish in it which are already cycled)

1 week. I checked the water yesterday and it was:
Ph- 7.5
Ammonia- 0
Nitrite- 0
I don't have Nitrate or Kh tests yet, but yes I think my water is cycled.

My parameters are:

Amonia - 0
Nitirite - 0
Nitrate - 15ppm
PH - 7.0

Dont know about KH or GH as I dont have the kits..

Oh yeah..... and im still waiting for mines to come too :grr: :grr:
