I have heard the stories of how guppies will breed like rabbits.
I plan to get some for my new tank and just want to be prepared. I don't have a problem with them breeding, I just want to make sure I'm doing all the right things. I do have a lil 'birthing net' for mummy. Can anyone give me any hints/tips/advice?

Thanks

Yeh, males develope very quickly though and before you know it they will be mating with there mum...
:/

There is no doubt about it, if you do not remove them from the tank quick enough they will inbreed. As for breeding, get some moss in your tank for the fry to hide in and soon enough you will have loads. I have just given 40 guppy to the fish shop the day.

Goodness me, sounds like they breed faster than rabbits! hehe.
So can babies mate with eachother then? How soon do I have to seperate girlies and boys? I can take mummy out of the birthing tent pretty quick.

Thanks everyone

In over 5 years I've been fish keeping guppys have been a nightmare to keep.
Tryed them three times, and only manage to keep them alive over a year this time due to worming them.
If you really want to keep guppys I wouldn't advise it if you cant get hold of internal parasite meds.

Oh right ok, thanks.
What are good fish to keep in a community tank with a mixture of fish? I'd like a fish that I can breed, if only for the experience.
