Hi I recently added 7 guppies into my tank. Soon after adding them I noticed all the guppies targeted this one individual seenin the breed box. The one being targeted is a unique colour compared to the rest and im unsure if this could he why. Even after separated the other guppies are still around the breed box trying to attack. Is there any reason for this ? My water parameters are fine the tank has been up and running for around a year now.

thanks

Did all of them come into the tank at the same time, or was the victim added separately? In the short term some additional plants might help the poor girl escape unwanted attention. How big is your tank, and what else is in it? I see a couple neon tetras. How do the guppies treat them?

@emeraldking Any ideas?

It's not specifically the color that might cause this behavior of the other two males. Could be a dominance thing (pecking order), which is a kind of normal. Especially, when it's a new added guppy. Most of the time, such behavior will pass.

Seems a boy to me...

The guppies don't mind the tetras, I added them at the same time. My take is 20gal I was told this was a male guppy? If this is a female then this could be the problem.

Would you advise putting him back into the tank? Like I said he's in the tank but currently in a breeding box attached to the side. It's worrying as all the fish seem to attack him all at once. I read they may do this if the fish is ill. Is the red stomach normal for thos colour of guppy?

Also it isn't just two guppy attacking its 5 of them

They don't like him so get rid of him, otherwise they will kill him

Trust emeraldking, he is the expert on livebearers.
But to quote Colin, guppies are 'randy little buggers' 😂
I think that a group of males will harass the one that looks most like a female as they live in hope. Your victim has short fins and a lack of colour. If he is also large they could be thinking he might be a girl and trying their luck. Just my theory, which I also apply to endler's livebearers and their hybrids. IME I moved the victim whilst young and reintroduced him when mature and stronger. Still gets targeted but holds his own.

I really don't know why I've mentioned two other males guppies. My mistake!
You could try to add him with the others again. Most of the time it will pass if it's a dominance thing. If the separated male is a complete submissive male, than it would be wise to get him out of that tank.

The coloration on his stomach is normal. He seems to be a glass belly guppy.

maybe it might just be pecking order and he is the last but they are still testing?
