Are these guppies pregnant?

the first & second picture are the same guppy, the bottom one is the second guppy.

any advice?

Certainly looks like they are!
Guppies are usually pregnant for 21-30 days and can produce up to 100 fry although this is more likely in an adult female. The fry will be eaten by mum or any other fish in the tank but you may have a few survive if the tank has plenty of plants and hiding places. Some people choose to put floating plants in the tank which the fry can hide in until they are big enough to no longer be considered food.

You will find your guppies are always pregnant...

They drop fry every 4-6 weeks (more at the 4 week mark)

They can have anywhere from 1-100+ fry (highest i have had is 86) AVERAGE IS 25-30

When a male pregnates the female, even if he is removed, the female can have fry for up to 6 months as she stores sperm packets which she uses over the months

Going by your pics..

pic 1 - About 2 weeks pregnant
pic 2 - about 2 weeks pregnant
pics 3 - about 1-2 weeks pregnant

ok thanks! i've heard you need to put them in a seperate tank if you can to help them survive?

It does help if you have a tank the fry can grow in, but i usually let mine grow in the traps for 4-8 weeks, then release them (providing you have enough room) with me always selling and giving them away or taking them to my lfs's... my stockijng levels stay fine.

ps...

when your fish do look heavily pregnant, look out for these signs as this is when they are ready to drop...

Dwelling on the bottom
Hanging around the top of the tank
Hovering near plants (or in them)
Hanging around the filter (if you have a internal one)
Hovering above the heater

thanks a lot, that was very helpful :) i will always remember to come back here if i need any advice, i'm sure I will!! x

You will know when there almost ready to drop cos there belly will look like this :)

Another thing to look out for is the black section near the back of her belly. It is called the gravid spot. When I see this in my swordtail, I usually put her ina separate tank.

dont go by the gravid spot, im so sick of typing this.. the gravid spot can appear dark on females that aint pregnant, and appear light on heavy pregnant ones, all fish are diffrent and the gravid spot is so misleading.. the easiest way to tell is by the size of her belly (it will square off)

Depending on the size of your fish and age.. she may not get big and still drop... also sometimes in the gravid spot you can see the babies eyes, this is a good indication she aint far off her drop (once again dont go by the gravid spots color as i said, light or dark, all are diffrent... , but if there is eyes, thats a good sign)

The belly and the signs is always the best way to go :)

Platys, mollies and swordtails (most of the times is pointless even looking at the gravid spot, on most of them its too hard to see)
