Guppies Living With Neons

neons stay more to the middle, guppies stay more to the top

i used to have that kind of setup no problems

unless you have a crazy ninja neon tetra that eats other *bigger* fish

The reason people say keeping guppies and neons together is not possible is that they need different water chemistry values. Guppies want hard, alkaline water, whereas neons prefer soft and acidic. Neons kept in hard, alkaline water tend to be short lived (living only a year or so, instead of anything up to 4 years) while guppies kept in soft and acidic water are prone to fungus and fin-rot.

In theory at least, you could keep them both at in pH 7, moderately hard water without much problem.

What kind of Danio are you looking at?

Not usually though, since Danios can be nippy. They are also faster moving fish that are very active, so it's said that can stress the Guppies out.

The reason people say keeping guppies and neons together is not possible is that they need different water chemistry values.

Also Neons can potentially be nippy. I've never had this, but some people who keep Bettas have said that the Neons have nipped on the Betta's fins. Since Guppies have flowy fins too, I'd be cautious about this.

I dont know who said Neons and Guppys cant be kept together. They most certainly can. Since they have a range in PH value, in a PH of 7.0 (neutral) they can live peacefully amoung each other without harm. But neons are know to chase each other around. I think it is a sign of playing.

golden daino and molly actually. but it seems ok nth happen to the molly. but i dunno would the daino stress the molly anot.

The main issue there is Mollies should have salt, and the Danios won't like that too much.
