Is 45 too old to do a gap year?

Nothing is ever too old - where there's a will, there's a way ;)

Be sure to take 42854928490289423 pictures!!

buy an underwater camera and take lessons on how to uses it :shifty: :hey:

Fantastic!
I took a year out overseas after uni... and then another...then seconded overseas with work for a couple of years...
Once you do it once, it makes it a huge amount easier to do it again.
You'll have a fantastic time, it sounds great!

Thats an awesome trip! I might have to take an extended leave of absence from work and do that myself!

I actually think you made the better choice. Though I love whales and Australia, the necessity to conserve whales is already well-established and high-profile. The conservation of anabantoid and tropical species in Thailand, however, is not. Your pending adventure is directly related to your hobby, and you should be very pleased that you will be participating in the conservation of species that are important to the aquarium trade.

Have a great time, and take lots of pictures. Let us know what species you bring back too.
