Well.... I used to have snails in my tank, I had 3 apple snails and 4 red ramshorn snails. They had alot of food and left the plants alone, I then found a copy of tiny little holes in my plants, then a few more. I took the snails out fearing it was them eating the plants, which was weird because they had never done it before.

They have been in another tank for a couple of weeks now and I have just found about 80 tiny apple snails in my tank and a malaysian trumpet snail!? This must be were my plants have been disappearing to.

Just wondering, roughly how many eggs do they lay in 1 sitting? There are some small snails and some tiny tiny snails so I'm assuming they are 2 different batches. Also is putting cucumber in the best way to bring the snails out so I can catch them or is there a better way. I've literally just finish sorting my tank out and don't want these little buggers ruining it.

Would an assassin snail eat my plants or would they just go for the snails? Or is there a fish I can get to do the job.

apple snails lay 200+ eggs per clutch. An assassin snail will eat thme but at a rate of 1-2 per week per snail. Once the apples are big enough just pick them out, will take monthes before they lay their clutches

i just got given a tank that had hundreds of snails in. in my opinion in a fish tank one or two are nice but more are vermine the best way to get rid of them is to take your fish and water out off the tannk and add very hot water but NOT boilling this will hill them and the majority off them will float to the top and some will sink and then you can take them out. Or leave them and they will slowly come out when you clean your tank. I did this technique 2 weeks ago and i do not have any snails at all. Hope this helps

Its time to purchase a clown loach :D :hyper:

We've been through this before recently! You do not buy a clown loach just because you have a snail infestation! Clowns need huge tanks and to be kept in large groups!
Please do not give this as advice. :good:

The best thing to do is stop over feeding, and make sure there are no rotting plants or detritus for them to eat.
