Growing Plants Without Heater/filter?

Is this possible, if so what plants? Got a small 4'ish gallon tank sitting doing nothing.
Hoping i could stick a light above it and use it to grow something, anything lol.

It's annoying me that it's just sitting there doing nothing haha, can't really afford a heater/filter for it at the moment
& they are cheap too, shows how broke i am. :lol:
 
never thought someone would want to have a plant tank! But i guess all life is interesting. I think your questions depends on your house temp, but if its not crazy low I dont really see why not!
 
you can... im doing it... but im growing them emersed as well they grow slower but it keeps the algae off :good: HC is growing like this so are some mosses crypts dwarf hairgrass. i stick a little bit of each plant i add to my thank in there to make more :good:
 
Plants don't need a filter, but to keep algae away you need a large flowrate :good:. So a powerhead or wavemaker would be ideal instead of a filter in a plant-only tank.
