Hey guys well my aquarium is coming along very nicely, i have done my lighting upgrade and am looking towards geting c02 somtime in the next month or so. So that should be pretty fun. Sence i got my new 2x40 t5 6500 bulb my plants are doing fabulous and the pictures i can take now are just stunning. I was reading an article today at lunch i believe it was a member by the name of GF225 or somthing? it was his journal and i saw a picture of him doing grass then algae took over. Well i went to the pet store today and got some that looked similar to what he had. I unwraped the medal band and the sponge from it... and broke the grass into different sections and planted them into the ground. Is this the correct method and how long will it take to spread.. if it will lol. Any other opinions PLEASE TELLL ME! i'm still really new at this.. and am trying to be a pro lol so aquascape advice is really neeed lol

Here are some pictures on what i did:

This is what they looked like originally

THAT IS ONCE NICE SHRIMP !! ARE THOSE LILAOPSIS PLANTS ?(IM NOT SURE ABOUT THE SPELLING) HOW ARE THEY DOING ? I NEVER DID GET THOSE PLANTS TO CARPET IN MY TANK,..... THEY TOOK TOO LOONG !: ) HEHE

*edit*
sorry about the all caps. i was programming and did not notice :)

As AP mentions it looks like a Lilaeopsis species, probably brasiliensis. A notoriously slow grower (even with ideal light and nutrient levels - just ask zig!) and therefore prone to algae.

The only grass like plants I have grown successfully are Echinodorus tennelus, Eleocharis acicularis, Sagittaria platyphylla and Glossostigma elatinoides. Personally I haven't tried Lilaeopsis but I wish you the best of luck with it.

Here's a profile from the Tropica site -

Well i hope your both wrong cause i really dont like algae, i thoght this was a similar plant to what you used, but apparantly it's not, and it's the only thing they had, but i suppose i can try it, if it works without problems perfect, if not then i'll have to find some like you had :)
