Way back then.... (in the 70's)... There were a lot more "thingy's" available to keep in aquariums (here in SA)....

Nowadays, I do not see them any more. I'm just wondering, Have anyone successfully bred fire Newts or those Green/yellow turtles in an aquarium???....

If so, I'd make a point of acquiring a couple again... (as is my obsession of getting a couple of Choc Gouramies)

Btw... What are those "Green?yellow" turtles called??

Now there is something that would be cool Ludwig, get yourself a nice turtle pond with a sandy land enclosure where they can dig out a nest and potentially breed,
I Don't think many of us on TFF have a better climate for this.

But, Davo... useless me trying and even Dr. Axlerod has not achieved it... do you know if anyone had been successful???

turtles won't breed in an aquarium as they will only lay eggs in a dug out pit, BUT if you can keep them outside in an enclosure which has a sandy bank at the side of the pond then it is possible,

Edit - these links give some info but it seems it has been achieved in an aquarium by removing the female to a sandy bottomed terranium after the two turtles had mated in an aquarium

Fire belly newts can breed in captivity. There's two species sold I know of Chinese (smaller species) and Japanese (larger species)
