Green Water

I have a 30 gal planted aquarium that recently has turned green with suspended algae. I have reduced light and feedings all with no affect and did a 50% water change. Any other suggestions? the residents include 2 plecos, a chinese sucker and 5 neons. Ph is 7.4, nitrites .25, amonia 0

I am pretty new to this, so take this with a grain of salt.

I imagine the overall issue is with your filter. How is it working, and how long has it been since you have cleaned it/replaced charcoal (assuming you have an activated charcoal filter)?

Trucker,
I had this problem,and got rid of it easily..

Wrap around your tank window with a cloth,preferably black and turn off your lights
24 hr,so you stop the light,you stop algae photosynthesis,

BUT be careful during this 24 hrs keep your airstone running,dying algae consume
enourmous amount of oxygen!!!!

if you don't supply o2 during this period ,you may be upset seeing dead fish in the tank.After 24 hrs make a 25% water change .

Do not overfeed your livestock,most of the fish food contain phosphates that are
good algae fertilizers.
You may repeat the procedure after some time later
