After using a hi tech RO water system for about 6 months now, my girlfriend has started bashing me! "THE WASTE" and i can't help but agree, DARN!
So today I walked into my local petshop and started checking on new devices, gadgets and chemicals. I came across this fast math, and I knew it wasnt as economical compared to any RO system. Nevertheless with 0 water loss it makes the misses happy, any comments about this system?

It isnt a waste, depending on how you use your "black" RO water. What do you do with it?

You could:

- use it in the washing machine, just run a line directly to the machine, or carry buckets.
- Run it into a hose for the garden.

Im not familiar with the above unit, but if you wanted to try it, I suggest you read the TDS that comes out at the end of the process, and let us know how it compares with your RO unit. I wished it told you how it operates. I think its just DI isnt it?

Note:

One cartridge will last for about 50 to 150 gallons of purified water, depending on how contaminated your tap water is.

yeah its not economical but ive read that the gallons it does produce are better then any RO system.. any thoughts? forgetn' the long term price?

Whomever told you that either was missing a few brain cells or lying to you. A properly cared for RO system can produce tens of thousands of gallons of RO water before replacement is needed, those ionic resin filters quit after a couple hundred... Two things to think about here:

#1, Mr. Miagi is right, go ahead and use the wastewater for washing, watering, heck, wash yoru car with it if you want (not this time of year though ;))

#2, More importantly, why are you concerned with waste? Remember, the water that goes down your drain ends up at the same spot its collected from. Its not like a sewage treatment plant destroys water, it just treats it for contaminants and puts it back into the water table. Its not like you live in a desert and are trying to conserve aquifers. I know in my case I could care less if a little water goes down the drain. It comes from Lake Erie and when it goes down my drain it goes right back into Lake Erie. Like I said, if you're on a well or in a desert, conserve, but if you're on a major metropolitan water source, we've got bigger conservation issues to fry :good:
