I’ve had aquariums for 20 years and never had this problem. I keep light on low as I have no real plants. I feed only at noon every day. I don’t over feed. I have green water and algae muck gums up my filter. I bought a uv light and only leave on I/2 the day, should I leave on 24/7 until no green water? I took out all plastic plants. I have 6 albino cats, 2 Dumbo guppies, 1 regular guppy, 6 silver tetras, 1 horned nose algae eater. I change 1/2 my water every week and treat with stress coat because I have city water. My filter needs rinsed weekly. Help please I’m at my wits end, I also have two other aquariums no problems. This green aquarium is a 30 gal.

Picture showing the entire aquarium so we can ID the algae?

What is the ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH of the water?
What sort of filter is on the tank?
How often and how do you clean the filter?

How often do you do water changes and how much do you change?
Do you gravel clean the substrate when you do a water change?
Do you dechlorinate the new water before adding it to the tank?

Do you add any plant fertiliser?
If yes, what brand, how often and how much?

Stop using Stress Coat as your dechlorinater. It has aloe that can only gunk up your tank, filters & fish gills. I'm not sure it helps algae to grow. I use Prime dechlor since I have chloramines in my city water. If you KNOW your water co. uses only chlorine you can get by with a cheaper dechlor. But at 2 drops/gallon, I just use Prime.

I'll ask Colin's questions again +

How long are your lights on? I do 6 hours or so. You can split the time, some people say that helps with algae. Say 3 hours on & later, 3 hours or so on again.
