I've been doing some research into GT's and have learned that there are 3 different types. Goldsaum, Silversaum and the True Green Terror. I Can't seem to find out the differences. What is each one like? Is there an order of aggression? Life Span? Intelligence? Size?

Thanks in advance!

The difference between gold and silver saums is that the gold saum has a gold edge to the fin, and silver saums have silver ediges to their fins :p

Its not really a good picture, but best of google images.

I think I'm right when I say there hasn't been any true green terrors for sale for a number of years. Peru blocked the export of these as such no wild fish have come into circulation. I think Jeff Rapps had some a while ago and sold them (most probably to americans). So these are very hard to come by, if not nearly impossible. I think I'm right in this, though I can't remember where I read it

There are also alot of good pictures here:
Seems I can't link to the site I want to, but its another big fish site, go to Cichlids -> central and south american ->one of the sticky's is of GT pics.

I know a lot of Americans with true GT's, breeding them and selling them on, not too sure on them in the UK however, could probably source some if you tried hard enough and wanted them enough.

so the only difference is the color of the fin edges? is there a temperament difference?

Oh I didn't know that, did peru lift the export ban?

I don't know of a temperament difference, I don't remember reading anywhere about it atleast, but that isn't to say there isn't one.

I'm not that sure about it either. They may have been able to source them before the ban? But they do sell them very easily, they are highly wanted.

On the difference between the gold saum, silver saum and wild green terror, if you do a quick google search it brings up multiple items. But they shouldn't all be linked on this forum. Search "true green terror".
