This might need to be moved into the hybrid section, but i thought this area was better. i don't know. anyways... is it possible for a green terror and jack dempsey to breed? We have two of each in the same tank, and none of paired off, either way. but one dempsey is getting HUGE and is always nearly pitch black, so we are assuming he's male. We had eggs laid once, when there was only Terrors in there, so we know there is at least one other female in there with him. I'm just curious to see if they will breed so we can watch out for eggs. Thanks!

yes JD's and GT's can breed. if you do notice that a pair between the two species forms unless you want to keep the fry I suggest that you take what ever object that they lay the eggs on and soak it in bleach with the eggs on it

that depends on if the spawning is wanted, soaking the object with the eggs on it in bleach effectivly kills the eggs.

Vip is right could always seperate if there is agression or as in my case you don't want the 2 to breed, the bleach is more of a if they breed situation though, imo it is probably best to seperate.

Bleach does sound harsh (i'd be afraid no matter how much you wash it, that the bleach will soak in), but its good to know there is a way to get rid of eggs if need be. Now that we know it can happen, i'll see if he wants to keep them together. thanks everybody!
