I just wanted to say, over the past 2 month i have been searching the net and going through every forum possible. And i believe this to be the greatest marine forum around. As like many i started with tropical and this site served me well, now with the conversion it has served me even more. So all i really wanna say is thank you all very much for your help and information.

well u didnt look very hard then. No offense to everyone on this board but there are marine only forums in which there are people who have the most amazing tanks you will ever see. This is also a very good forum and u will most always find what u need.

We all like to hear that :D This has been great for me to learn from as well. Although I have never touched a freshwater fish before I started marine. So I'd be lost going the other way ;) Not that I intend on ever doing so :S

I'm sure I'd find what I need on this message board.

I have been on many other forums also, they couldnt tell me anything I couldnt get here. The thing about this forum is that the members are not all uptight and fragile. I have never been scolded by a mod. in this form for telling someone that they are headed the wrong direction. NOT the case on Re*f*e**ral, were I got told I need to be more polite, and not just tell someone "No, your wrong." (Really, I didn't mean to make the other members cry.) The thing that I find that sets this forum apart from others is .............. I have a lot of fun! Not to mention we have this little clickable smile that I use when ever I get the chance. Oh, there are amazing tanks on this forum also.

your right about the stuck up part, what other site would you find a new species of loch ness poo monster a grouper with big teeth and a super snail, anyway you learn more when your having fun and not when you cant take a joke, some of the best advice comes from. :flex:  :D

As a mutli fish forum i must say this marine section is very good IMO. Whether its the best is down to personal tastes really but i must say i have seen vast improvements since joining this forum last year. I intially found my way here by accident, i was searching the net for information on Niger triggers and found via the searching engine a statement saying triggers were not reefsafe. I joined the forum and answered this sweeping statement in more detail. When i first joined i found the responces were slow (mainly because of timezones i guess) and the number of regualr marine members that posted on here was low. However im very pleased to say that ths has turned aruond and now the responce times are much better and this in turn means people have used this site more often so the membership with regualr posters have increased. :D

This forum is definately heading in the right direction IMO

i agree. Since i have seen a definate improvement even in the last few weeks. I am on this forum mainly for fw but sw too and i find that no one is scolded for ANYTHING. The sw forum i am on is pretty good too. The whole site is run by people who have very successful tanks.

which there are people who have the most amazing tanks you will ever see.

Only cause you haven't seen mine yet...

My hair algae is finally subsiding. Soon I will be able to get some pics up.

This section has been expanding quickly as of late.
At the inception of the saltwater section, it was rarely visited and was easy for those of us that moderate to do so. There was quite a period where it would only get a couple topics a week.

So we have really had to get up to speed. I have been talking to William about some additions and changes. So we will see what the future brings. Hopefully we can continue to meet the needs of all. That is what mekes this better than the large sites out there. You will usually get more attention here than many others.

Very true!

THe downside of the forum starting so small of course is that there/were only a very few experienced marine keepers to give advice, this meant slow responces and the opinions of very few. THe forum is growing however and there are more and more people with experienve joining as well as the newer members that are also learning a great deal from their own tanks and experiences.

Keep up the good work everyone and give yourselves all a pat on the back!

Well one of the main reasons i dig it is because it is relativly small. You dont have millions of different sections with even more sub-sections and users who ***** at you for asking relaitivly newbie questions. Quick and easy! But i must admit, i really would dig to see a marine fish and invert index, like the tropical section has. I'm sure we could all throw together a few ideas.

I agree with all of the above, this site is very useful for general information, and especially for people swapping over from freshwater. However there are occasions when it is useful to have the opinion of a true expert in a field which is why I occasionally give link to one of the posts in ree* **tral- hope no one minds :*) .

that would be a great idea i like looking at other peoples fishes and tanks. even today i was mesmerized at a friend of a friends 220 tank it was huge and some of the stuff in there was amazing and huge i meen, green chromis nearly five inches long and well fat it was great. so im up for that who do we have to bribe :D

I am chugging away at the fish index and working with Great Lakes on expanding it. I have 4 more fish pending that were submitted and need to be approved. I am working on all the Centropyge fish right now. I have 13 more to go. Then I'm gonna finish off the damsels too.

While I dunno about being a full mod. I would like to be mod of the SW Index though.

sam ehere but unfortunately i cant. I am working on the whole family of lionfish. I have submitted a Volitan and dwarf zebra which i think ineed to redo.
