I just visited my friends house who has a extremly large tank and wanted crabs in it. But he couln't lower the water, so he created an under water habitat for his crabs. He used an smaller upside down tank and some wine glasses to create an air bubble. he then has a punp to supply fresh air to the crabs. he placed river rocks around the glass to make it more natural. and the crabs loveit and are thriving. i geuss they have been doing well for a month. Its really awesome. i geuss hes made smaller ones and started to copyright the design!!!! he planning to created more ideas and has tried different kinds of aphibians and land creatures to see how they do it under water.

sounds really cool. can you send a picture and about how much it would cost to buy. I bet it would sell good. I would buy it.

you could feed the crabs by using pvc pipes down to the habitat, seeling the water off from the pipes then the food( or the new crab could just be dropped down into the habitat.

That would also eliminate the need to pump air in. But it sounds like having them in their own little sealed off bubble is part of the fun. :)

I cant really send a pic since my friends on vacation now....

please post a pic when your friend geta back! it sounds interesting but im not sure where the wine glasses fit in...

sorry I must have confused you guys...he's experimenting with the larger "bubbledome" or the small fish tank to see how it does. he has already made, sold and in the process of copyrighting his invention of the wineglass"bubbledome". It is a upside-down wine glass with a airtube leading down to it with little rocks glued to it to make it look like a tower. Ill try to get a picture(its hard to explain)

If you make a little box out of plexi glass and cut a hole in the box and tank lid big enough for the crab to get through. Then you set that box on top of the tank and you got a spot of land for them. Just give them a plant or something that goes that high, and make every opening smaller then 1/4". Mine loves it. Keeping it clean is a real problem though. I think I'm supose to remove all gravel frequently and give a good rinse. Anyone know?
