Today I went fish hunting with a friend of mine to Lancashire and Manchester. I went to 2 shops Peir Aquatics and BAS. Peir was excellent with their selection of fish which was mainly bottom dwellers. They had castexi and antenna rays on show with marble motoro and leo's in the back reserved. Their tanks were clean and fish looked healthy (tig's had perfect streamers). The staff were helpful and knowlageable and their prices were great. BAS was ok but had lots of tanks but only 3 fish caught my eye which were the large 20" fire eel, RTG aro and devil cats. They also had some quite nice delhezi and ornate birchers but nothing to special. Anyway to the UK people I would definatly reccomend Peir even if it is a long journey away from you it was 2 hrs away from me and was worth it even though I didnt come away with anything. Has anybody else been to either of these shop? IMO Pier is a FANTASTIC aquarium shop and well worth a visit, with some gorgeous fish!

I have posted some pictures in the pictures sub forum.

Pier Aquatics is great, right now i'm within walking distance of it :)

From there i've bought Khuli Loach and a small Ancistrus, they were really healthy at the time and they are still going strong, last time I went in they had loads of Blue Arrowana in the main tank (the one on the other side of the guppy tanks and just before the plant section). I'm thinking of going to BAS in the next couple of months to sort out a new tank and maybe some bichir or eels.

You are SOOOO lucky that you are in walking distance. Also the blue aro that you mentioned are actually juvinal black arowana (or so I am told). When I went to BAS they had a good selection of eels, and I was really tempted to but a delhezi birchir, but I had already bought a 4 eyed fish and an L200 fish from PIER. But they are so worth it. Also BAS have a 20" fire eel, but he is in a tank to small and looks really bad, nearly all his red has gone. He really needs rescuing but my tanks are full. Also at BAS they have a RTG arowana, he is so shiney 8) lol, or at leats in that light I like to think so.

Porton pet and aquatics in salisbury normally have oddballs at good prices. Eelys, puffers, inverts, morays, birchirs etc
I got an ornate birchir for FREE, as it didnt have any fins :( and also a healthy one that was £12 also an albino birchir forrrr... i cant remember, but i think it was a tenner!

Total fish and pets is probably the best store to me
its about 20 miles away from me but im there like every 2 weeks
so many flowerhorns most are around $200 usd
the best thing about that store is that i got my giant gourami from there
its pink :hyper: not that i like the color very much, but i have seen thousands of these fish and i am the only on who has one :D its not dyed either but many people say it is, iv had my fish for over 8 months and i see no fade, but instead more color
that store is awesome
