Gravel

What does it mean if the gravel is going brown? as it has brown sploges in the middle of my tank and near my filter area. Loads

Can I treat this and how?

could be algae, is the tank is direct sunlight? how long is the light on? how often do you feed? tank size and stocking?

The tank is not in the sunlight. I leave the tank light on like 9 in the morning till maybe 10 at night but i usually turn it off when I go out.

But because I am at college every day (this only week is half term) I leave it off.

I feed the fish 1 time a day, i used to feed it twice but people say that i'm overfeeding them. So once only, i sometimes give them red bloodworms like once or twice a day as a treat.

the tank is 3 foot long,

I think its 38 inch in lenght

width 15 inch

hight 14 inch

erm i'm afraid its unlikey mate

I need to install my phone disk to my computer so i can transfer pictures and upload them but the disk is always reading errors

and the bluetooth is not allowing me to send images to the computer and vice versa so i think something wrong with the comp which is a real pain

get a pleco or other type of algae eater
if you get Ottos then get like 5 of them as they only get to about 2in each

they will suck all that algae up and keep it under control

i'm sure plecos don't eat brown algae not sure on ottos

I have algae control which i put in today for 1st time. If you could provide some pictures of Pleco or Ottos and some imformation on how to look after them then that would be awesome

Not enough oxygen in the tank can cause this.

buying an aerator is the best idea. If you havent got one already. Get one that is big enough to pump enough O2 for your tank. It will say on the box what size tank it is suitable for. Don't forget the tubeing line and you can buy very nice airstones to go on the end to make the bubbles decorative.

It could be the coloring on the rocks is rubbing off there?
