Im thinking about getting a gravel vacuum because ive noticed a lot of sediment hanging around down there.

When you vacuum do you have to move rocks and logs etc?? does it damage plants??

thanks :/

You don't have to move anything although some people do just to allow some circulation under the rocks, etc. Vacuuming around plants can be tricky. It really depends on what type they are and how heavily planted the tank is. The more plants, the more difficult it is to do a complete gravel vacuum. On the flip side of that, the more plants, the less likely the waste that you don't get out is to cause a problem with ammonia or nitrite as the plants will help process and use it.

You can if you want, and I certainly do move everything around. However, I only do this because the fish I keep are highly territorial, and I believe this helps to keep the aggression down. I believe that you don't have to move everything, but it might help.

You should definately gravel vac. This stops all the nasty stuff building up.

I used mine for the first time today and it worked a treat :) I didnt move anything around tho, just worked around it!
