Gravel or sand

I prefer sand rather than gravel simply because it's easier to clean.

Debating on changing to sand , planted aquarium here. Does anyone suggest one over the other ? I just find my setup is a bit hard to clean the substrate currently.

I have fine gravel in my aquariums, I have tried sand and am not a big fan of it I personally found it a pain to keep clean. The fine gravel I have is a compromise between the two and I find the plant roots can develop more than in sand as I found the sand choked them. Mine is a very fine gravel though just a tad bigger than sand .
