Gravel for shrimp

What is the best gravel for amano shrimp aquarium?

A good substrate for shrimp that I would personally use would be fluval shrimp and plant substrate. It also works really well for plants because it has nutrients that your live plants need to do well in your tank.

I prefer just regular gravel. It is easier to keep clean. I dose liquid fert for the plants.

I would go for a smallish size or sand. I just feel shrimps would be able to pick food off the tank floor better if the grain size isn't too large.

Personally, I will always use sand with shrimp.

The fish if any also factor in, some need sand regardless, and there can be significant bacterial issues for substrate fish like cories with any plant substrate or gravel.

No fish, plastic plants, and a billion bladder snails

Not the ideal setup for shrimp there. The snails will compete with the shrimp for food. And if you plan on no real plants, then pick whatever looks good to you for substrate. That said, shrimp do like real plants. They feed on the biofilm and dead plant material on them.

thanks. I had been buying mossy( java moss?) live plants because I read that they like them. Those plants disintegrated almost right away.
What's a sturdier shrimp friendly live plant?

It doesn't get much sturdier than java moss. Maybe it was missing some nutrients. Java moss doesn't grow fast so it doesn't need much. But it does need something.

Something like guppy grass is pretty foolproof but will require constant pruning. I have subwassertang in my shrimp tank but it is less hardy than Java moss.
