I'm starting despair of cleaning my tank. Neither my Hagen or Aqua-One gravel cleaners seem to have enough suction, all my fish crap just swirls round at the bottom of the tube & never seems to get sucked out. I usually end up filling 3 buckets & leaving 50% of the poop & general rubish n the tank.

Can anyone recommend a better solution that will devour large scale platty poop without removing half a kilo of sand too?

cheers

Mick

what level are the buckets your siphoning into? if you put the bucket on the floor and your tank is on a stand there shouldn't be a problem with any gravel cleaner being able to pick up any debris. if you want to avoid sucking up sand, swirl the gravel vac in little circles just above the sand to lift anything

Hi Mick

You could always try this!

LOL - sadly that cleaner wouldn't fit on my tanks edge :(.

I'm emptying from my tank which is on a stand, down to buckets at floor level. The water flows well enough, I just end up with tube full of poop & none gets up to hose part. It's driving me scatty.
