Granny's Fish In Cycle.....

I've been cycling since October 26th, 3 danios, and still nada on the nitrItes. Just FYI.

Is your tank temp set to 24c, this is about your limit with the zebra danios being in your tank. When doing a fishless cycle the ideal temp is 29c, this seems to be the heat where bacterias colonise quicker. This certainly could be your reason for why things are taking a bit longer.

You are doing fine granny.
the platies will have no trouble with your pH and as long as you keep the ammonia below 0.25 ppm they should do fine. Do not hesitate to do huge water changes if they are called for. I find that my own fish tolerate a 90% water change of good water far better than they tolerate poor water chemistry like high levels of ammonia or nitrites.

Ammonia still borderline and no nitrites and definitely down to 2 fish.

Will keep going and let you know when we have progress. I think I know the answer but should I be changing the filter? The instructions in the Biorb says do it every month.....

NO, I would leave your filter alone Claire because this is where your bacterias will be colonising, but if the water flow from your filter has been dramaticly reduced then a very light swish in a bucket of tank water will be ok.
Biorb would love for you to replace your filter media every month, its more money in the bank for them.
