Gph In A 72 Reef?

How many gallons per hour do i need to pump through a 72 reef tank? from sump to tank i mean
The pump we have now pump 320 gph but should we get a stronger pump so we can have more turnover?

What are you planning on keeping, coral wise? Most people aim for 20x turnover but I run mine at 35x. I have know people to run 60x turnove though. Its all down to stock.

So your main question is water flow through the sump? 5x tank turnover is common. 72x5=360



For tank display:I depends on what you want to keep. A lot of full blown sps tanks have 40+ tank turnover. Baseline is generally 20x turnover. Some corals don't like lots of flow and others love it. Base your flow around that. Also, higher flow could give you a sand storm.
