Are gouramis peaceful community fish? Which ones are, which ones aren't?

im no expert on gourami's but i think they are all generally peaceful fish, it depends on how you house them, for instance if you have 2 males i believe they will not get along, and if you have a m/f pair and they are trying to breed then they can be a little aggressive/territorial, but given they have enough space they should be fine or if you keep a single gourami then it shouldnt cause any problems :) someone will probably come along and give you better advice than i did soon anyway lol! because im not 100% sure that what i said is right

Depends on the size of the tank and the species, but the males can be extremely aggressive to females and especially other gouramis. Females can be aggressive to other females as well. And a male will go into murder mode if he makes the bubble nest and breeds. Generally gourami don't mind smaller fish, but they'll probably eat any eggs left on the tank glass. If you keep more than one gourami at a time, I'd suggest a forest of plants for hiding places.

I have 4 male gouramis and they are fine with all my other community fish, they did however attack my snails no end so i had to remove them! The gouramis to squabble amongst themselves when i drop in some waffers but all in all they get along ok.
