Gourami

I just knew there had to be gourami people here somewhere! I'm so glad I finally found you!!!! :D

We now have the gourami forum as part of the betta forum, it makes sense as they are Anabantoids :) Thanks for bringing this to our attention

Put me down as another gourami lover. I've got a pair of Pearl Gouramis (aka Lace gouramis). The female is a bossy-boots and rules the tank with a rod of iron. The male, Grrrrr II (don't ask! ) is incredibly shy and hardly ever comes out, but when he does his "plummage" is amazing. I had an even more handsome male but he really got above himself and there was just one gourami too many in that tank.

The secret to good size and good colour are, IMHO, plenty of live and frozen food, particularly bloodworms, daphnia and brine shrimp. The also hate current so gentle filtration is better (pretty much like angelfish, actually).

Add me to the crowd! If I could and hopefully can eventually, start over and find homes for the mollies and tetras, I would have nothing but angels and gouramis.

Wonder if Kuhlis would get along with this bunch? Have to look it up.

Proud Gourami owner here too! Here's a pick of my kisser. He/she is between 6 and 7 inches and somewhere around 5 years old.

Nice pics! Thank you for sharing them.

Does it bother the other fish in the tank with it? I tried the kissing gouramis once, but they kept "kissing" the sides of other fish and it annoyed them.

How big do the kissers get?

My kisser shares the tank with 3 large silver dollars, plec (not sure of species), weather loach, penguin fish, and an albino cat. He usually keeps to himself but gets a bit nuts sometimes and chases everbody and tries to kiss the life out of them.
Gets very territorial sometimes.

Weather loaches are such fun to watch!

Just a suggestion, but it might be a good idea to get one or more corys to keep your albino company. They are schooling fish and really only thrive when they have some company. They do not take up much room and if you get them, you will be happy you did.

Yeah my loach is definitely one of my favorite fish. Great character!
I had 2 albinos but one died. The one I have now is about 4 years old and he's not gonna live much longer. All of his fins are falling off. I don't know if it's old age, disease, or if someones pecking at him. It doesn't seem to bother him though. He's a busy little guy, constantly sifting through the sand cleaning up the tank.
