I notice this site doesn't have a gourami forum. Gourami's rule! For ease of care and beauty can't beat em. Click on my mini profile below to see my tank.

Yeah, I agree! Instead of just Bettas, it should be Labyrinth fish

 Gouramis are wonderful fish. I have four "cinnamon" dwarf gouramis and they are colorful, active, gregarious, and well-behaved community members. I think that a forty or fifty gallon tank full of lace gouramis would be absolutely stunning!

i love gouramis too, especially the pearl gourami, i have two.i also have two dwarf gold gouramis. they get on very well in the community tank ,.....pebbles

Another Gourami fan here!

In my tank I have pairs of Cosby/Blue Gouramis, Golden Gouramis & Pearl Gouramis.

I used to breed them when I was young and sell them to the LFS.

Although my first choice and favorite fish are cichlids, next in line would be gouramis. I have a blue gourami in with my cichlids at the moment and i think she is just now losing dominance. She is only about 3" while my GT is around 5" now, my JD is at 4". She gets chased by my 3" Deppii a lot but i can't put her in with my gold cuz they fight. So after my move in 2 weeks, i'm going to try again in a 29 gal tank to get the gold and blue together. We'll see. I wish i had a digicam cuz my gold gourami is stunning.

I would like to bread Gouramis at some time in the future, probably pearls. They seem to be the easiest going and prettiest of all.

The blue/red dwarf gourami was the first fish I got. I have 3 of them now. They are jerks to each other though. Always have to go after another one if they come in their area. Now I don't like them so much. Still a cool fish and I would love them if they were nice. I guess I still love them anyhow. I did put another fish in there that is more aggressive than any of those three and it seems he has made them all act a little nicer towards each other. We shall see though. It has only been 2 days.

I have heard someone say that the dwarfs are more aggressive than the others. I had to return a powder blue dwarf to the lfs when he started asaulting the regular dwarf I added. I recently added a pearl to the tank and the regular dwarf was a little aggressive at first, but then backed off. The pearls are beautiful fish.
I also think the ciclids are nice but seem to be alot harder to care for and much aggression with them. I do have 1 blue ram which is a cool fish. At some point in the future I would like to start a ciclid tank. I've kindof lost interest in all the guppies, mollies and platies. I like the more challenging interesting fish. B)

I just consider those fish as food for my cichlids now lol

I have 2 Dwarf goramis...Crazy story...I had to move so my roomy was watchin my friends and I guess he didnt feed them enough...but food got scarce and Travis and Lizzie went at it. ..I now have a one-eyed gourami that does well in another tank with 2 angels a Bichir and a couple of black skirts that are visiting untill i get my other tank back in "living specs"....time for another water change....Can I add other types of gouramis w/o too much fighting??? :D

Probably not. Depends on the size of the tank though, the bigger the better and break up the eye line so they don't see each other as much if you try it.

Lots of hiding places would be good. I have a couple of big Amazon sword plants in my tank that they just love to hide in. B)

I like gouramis two, but due to the size of my tank only have one dwarf sunset gourami. They are so pretty and very nosey. I really like golden gouramis but they grow too big. I did have one once who used to eat flake food from my finger, very cool.
