Gourami Troubles

Hi everyone,

For the last week, my Gourami has started swimming funny and now he is no longer eating. The way he swims is a little arched, towards the back of his body. He almost wants to swim sideways. I last saw him eat two days ago but he only ate a small portion yesterday and he refuses to eat anything tonight. He’s lethargic and coming up for air a bit.

The water parameters look great. I have two tetras and two algae eaters who are perfect. The Gourami is the only one with an issue. He’s beautiful, super mellow, and I’ve had him for around 4 years now. I would really hate to lose him! Any suggestions?

Hello,
Here’s a picture that sort of shows how he’s swimming. He’s not doing any better or any worse this morning. If it’s his time, then it is what it is. But if something is wrong and I can fix it, I would like to at least try. Thank you.
