Okay, since I will be moving my Betta fish out of the 16g community tank into his own 2.5g aquarium, I am considering adding one Neon Dwarf Blue or Red Guorami. If I just get one (a male most likely), will that be okay? He will be with 5 Zebra Danios, three Mollies, 3 Guppies, and one Pleco.

Dont see a reason why it wouldn't?

Gouramis are peaceful fish, although you will get the odd one that is teritorial to the extreme!

Try him in there. He should be at peace as he has no one to compete with and also he will make a great addition to your tank.

good luck

 HAHAHAHAH HA HA HA.................gouramis....peaceful.....LOL..........your kidding right?

gouramis are very peaceful in pairs, but without a female to capture their attention, thay unleash all ther stengh on smaller and bigger fish.

you can try to keep one gourami, but you'll end with one fish in the whole tank!

I have kept dwarf gouramis for years both in groups and as single fish and always found them peaceful

I haven't kept gouramis, but my mother used to keep LOTS of fish and at one point had a small breeding operation going with her gouramis. She says that they're quite peaceful with other fish, though there's always the individual here or there that's sometimes a bit snippy. She also said that they will often pester the females, or fight with other males, but they seem to be a fish that is big on 'exceptions to the rule'. When she was trying to breed them, she actually had two males pair off together!! Gay gouramis!!! They would build nests and everything, did the mating dances, totally lurved each other! Anyway, my mother feels that one should be fine with the other fish, but be sure he has plants and caves to be selfish over. XD

I've only ever had a peaceful Gourami. I currently only have 1 Dwarf Neon in my tank at themoment and he doesn't bother any fish. I'mjust going on my own personnal experience and some information found in books and on the web.
