i have just had one of my larger gouramis die and now both my two smaller honey ones are going black towards the back of them. Some of my other fish are acting strange as well!

I dont want my tank to unsettle as when i first got it i had loads of problems!

please help!.....

Need water stats first i'm afraid in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Do you mean black patche, or darkening in colour.
Black patches are ammonia burns that are healing.
Darkening in colour is a sign of a bacterial infection.

tank is 30 litres
i dont know levels - i will get them checked asap
i have 2 honey gouramis
1 other gourami
1 red tailed black shark
5 black phantom tetras
2 albino catfish
6 bristle nose catfish

the black looks like it is a patch. Ammonia burns would make sense because i have recently changed the filter carbon.

Well don't know where to start.
Your tank is severely overstocked.
Not one fish should be in that tank size.
Red tailed black shark needs a 40gal.
Tetra, and goruamis need nothing less than 10gal.
Immediate water change, the black on the fish are ammonia burns that are healing.

I would take all the fish back as all that tank is really good for is a betta.
Or go out and buy a 40gal tank.
