got some noob questions about clown knife and eel

i brought home a clown knife today and he keeps going to the bottom and laying on his side, is this a sighn that he is sick or close to death? I also got a eel that they said was a marble eel but i cant find any thing abt it. The LPS said that it was ok for a community tank. Was he full of crap? My nitrite level is also really high what should i do

Marble Eel
It might be Marcrognathus circumcinctus that you are referring to, in which case it is not a real eel and is fine in a community aquarium.

Its not a spiny eel. The eel is very light color of gray, almost white.It also has a face like a moray but none of the pic Ive seen look like him/her.
do you know anything abt my knife clown fish laying on the bottom

does it lie on the bottom for long periods of time or just flick on to its side? the eel could be some sort of "freshwater morey" which are actually brackish water fish.

The guy at another lps said the same thing you did abt it is probably a brakish water eel. I think he said it was something like a snow flake. The first tank is abt one month old. but the guy I talked to said I probably sould move him and my knife clown fish out of my comunity tank. So I bought a 30 gall from a friend and put them in it. I know I probably needed to let it go threw its cycle first but I just put some bio spira in it for a night and put them in. The other tank is a 30 gall too.

I just figured out what I have. I have a echidna rhodochilus. he is a brackish water eel. how do I go abt making my tank brackish and what other fish are brackish. Im going to look it up but do you guys have any sugestions? Right now I have a knife clown and a paradise fish in with him

Clown Knife = 3 foot. Yo need to put the Clown Knife in your community and buy abig tank. Then move the Clown Knife to the big tank AFTER it is cycled. With the brackish tank start adding salt and think it is too small anyway for one full size. You should buy a new tank for the eel in the future but for now he can stay in the 30 gallon. Add salt slowlyand the packet should tell you the best instructions. Gotta go. Post more later.

I decided to trade the eel and the clown for cichlids. I didnt want to try brackish and I was scared that my clown knife would eat one of my other fish in my comunity tank. Anyway, thanks for all your help and advice. this is a great site and i'm sure you will all be hearing from me cause i'm new at this fish tank stuff.

One day Iwant to get a Clown Knife or a Royal Knife. Can anyone tell me the difference between these fish and some info on them?
