Ok people, got my first fry, as it happens i have just compleated cycling my hospital tank (cheated abit as i put some water from my big tank in, but its all fine, put my fry in there today, now is their a way to tell what type of fish they are? i have guppies, mollies and platy in there, platys are wag tails (orange with black tail) i know most come out white! (or those have anyway)

Managed to save 11 of them, which aint too bad, 3 hours of fishing lol! really hard to see, did not think they where really that small!

congrats on the fry :D as for thelling them apart you may just have to wait a few weeks :)

thats just them developing more. you will see alot of changes in the next few days

if they are molly there colour will be solid where as platy and guppy fry are semi transparent. congrats on them whatever they turn out to be

cheated abit as i put some water from my big tank in

just to let you no, you dont cycle the tank you cycle the filter so adding water from the main tank didnt help one bit. 6-8 weeks to cycle fully

Yup. The water column contains next to no bacteria to process bioload. The bacteria is on surfaces. If you moved your filter over or some substrate over, you would get some help with the cycle. Otherwise water is next to useless for helping a cycle a long unfortunately.
