When I went to visit my lfs today, I was lucky enough to find another of the corys that are on my "want list."

I came home with 6 C. melini (false bandit) corys. They are a pale bodied fish with bold markings. Here's a link so you can see what they look like:

Fortunately, I had a tank set up that they could go into; unfortunately, that was where part of my big batch of fry was going. I guess I have to set up another tank!

:D You have singlehandedly convinced me that I need cories in my life :D
I will be adding a trio in about a month to a tank I have set up for my daughter. I'll be asking your advice then and seeing what my local store can produce for me. I love your new guys/gals and Iknow that you do too.

I love my cories. They are rapidly becoming my favorite fish. I also like puffers. I'm still trying to figure out how to mix the two =(. Maybe lots of plants and caves. Cories are the only fish I've seen blink.

:D those are very pretty I want me some of them to. I got me three new green looking ones the other day. It was a very nice addition to my others ones you should see them all together. They act like they have known each other for life.

Congrats on you new cories! ---sorry I'm just now getting to your post :(

They are really nice looking. My Ifs don't carry anything as special. I'm lucky if I see and albino!

Thanks for all the kind words, everyone. :D

Unfortunately, I've run into some trouble with them. :-( A day after I brought them home I noticed that something seemed wrong with them. The following day one died. :byebye:

The strange thing is, there was nothing definitely pointing to any specific thing being wrong. They just didn't seem "right," to me. Not perky enough; eating, but not the way I would expect them to.

Anyway, I began treatment with Kanacyn with the assumption that it was probably a bacterial infection, and they are doing much better now. Only one of them is quiet and stays in the cave most of the time.

I still have one more dose of meds to go, and with luck they will be fine.

I got new corys today too. They are just itty bitty bronze corys, but they are sooo adorable and seem to be adding nicely to the antics of my four trilineatus corys. :fish: :fish:

Me too, but my fascination seems to be with bottom dwellers like corys, loaches and such (just fell in love with some blue rams but have no home for them :()

Inchworm, I hope your new corys make a quick recovery.

Hi Captain Canuck :)

Thanks for the kind wishes.

I'm sure you'll love your little bronze corys. When all is said and done, others might be more attractive, but no other cory beats them when it comes to personality.

sorry to hear u lost a cory :-(

But if anyone can pull the others thru its you!! :D

I lost one of my bronze cories that we talked about before in previous posts

Now I'm down to one bronze (from 3). I tried to put him with the rest of my julies but he hated it in my community tank.

So now he lives w/ a betta and two ottos, he is very active and eating- he's not even afraid of me any more!!!
. I think he is happy with the set up. He and my betta rest together at the bottom of the tank  While the ottos clean house.

Anywho...good luck!!

I would like to recomend these two species of corys. They are awesome and you can have more than the regular corys because they are about half the size. When i find any of these in the area i will snarf them up. they are my favorite two species of cories, i guess I just like small fish :flex: ....

I have 3 Cories on sand-moving duty in my Dwarf Puffer tank and they are fine. The Puffers igmore the Cories, even when they stray into the Puffer's territory.

I think the key is as you said, lots of hiding places.

Plecos blink too! Must be a catfish thang.

I have 6 pygmy cories and they are great. They love to sit on top of the half coconut shell I have in the tank. I think they watch all thats going on in the tank from there vantage point.

Guess what?

When I went to the lfs today, I found that there was only one of the C, melini corys left in the tank. The poor little thing was hiding under the filter intake tube. Well, I couldn't very well leave him there by himself so I asked to buy him. Just as the man was bagging him for me, another one came swimming out from the cave, so I bought him too. :D

This brings my number of them up to 7.

They are in the tank with the others getting the same Kanacyn treatment, so whatever problem they had, they will all soon be well. :kana:
