Got My Tank Set Up... Need Some Help

bottled water can still have chemicals in it and stuff they use to treat it

Bottled water isnt good at all, i was looking at the label and an average bottle contains around 6 - 10ppm of nitrates, and loads of other unhelpful chemicals.

Got a Walmarts around? They sell distilled water for 62 cents a gallon. Personally I am willing to pay 6 dollars for 10 gallons. Reverse Osmosis will eventually pay for itself though.

eventually ill get a RO unit. but at the mo im skint. just bought a new car. and sum other crap !

You can buy "distilled" water at many local supermarkets, at least here in the states. It has to say distilled on the bottle and can make no mention of minerals added, springwater, or anything that might indicate it has solutes in it.

While its certainly possible to make yoru own distiller, it would be massively more expensive to build than just buying an RO unit, not to mention rediculously expensive to operat eon a small scale.

Its very rare to find distilled water across the pond here Ski, our supermarkets arent quite as large as yours (in general). However you can buy distilled water from any car accessory place (like Halfords) or possibly in the motor area of a larger supermarket, though it is very expensive. (around £3 for 5 litres!).

Most LFS i have been to that stock marine fish will sell RO water for a good price though.

Yep, i remember i had to do an emergency 50% water change and had ran out of RO, so it cost me around £18 to change the water in a 10 gallon tank, insane!
