hi,ive been looking to change to cichlids but my brother in law offered me my old senegals back( 2 ) so i got them back tonight.they are both about 7 inches long and they both need fattening up lol.my question is ,what else could i add to the tank.

my tank is a jewel rio 240 with bogwood and real plants

eheim pro 11 2028 external filter plus original jewel internal

heres my currant fish

2 x senegals
1 x bristlenose
1 x rubbernose

my lfs has a 5 inch delhezi.could this fit in ok?????could i add 6 x red torpedos as mid level fish????

any other suggestions would be most welcome.ps i have made a post about cichlids a few days ago but,as my brother in law gave me my 2 senegals back,im no longer interested in large cichlids.i am not wasting anyones time, things have just changed, thats all.

Hmm, the 5 in Delhezi is a good question. This is the rule I go by (and I'm cautious), if I think my senegal can fit something in his mouth, hell probly eat it... I think knife fish would be a good addition. Although I don't really like them and have never kept them. :p

EDIT: I think that as long as they are roughly the same size they should go well together. I think Senegal and Delhezi are supposed to get along fairly well...

P.S. Grats on getting them back!

heres my tank stocking at the moment.need some help on other fish to add that are mid/top level fish

2 x 6-7 inch senegals
1 x 5 inch palmas
1 x 3 inch bristlenoe

bichirs would eat the exodons when small and if they lived they would probably nip the bichirs.exodons would be a defo no no.

Palmas grow huge, your rubber nose plecs WILL be eaten by your senegalus' in time, as they dont grow fast or very large either.

Depending on the attiude of your senegalus you could try ABFs but I've heard of senegalus eating those.

Wide bar or thin bar Siamese Tiger fish, need 100gallon tank for 1.

Dwarf Snakes heads, though would be best to only keep 1 of these, as if they pair off they will kill everything else.

''Palmas grow huge'' they do? try they get 13-14 inches hardly huge -Anne

im really looking for a midwater fish/fishes to add some movement to the middle of the tank.what about 3/4 silver dollars????

I wouldn't really say the rubbernose is at risk, mine does fine with my super-predatory delhezi. They're pretty spiky and aren't exactly easy to catch and eat.

i persoanlly dont like silver dollars, but they should be able ot work also i think giant danios will too. i'm not sure on the tank size for congo tetras but it may be an option as well. hope this helped!!! :good:
