hi all, well after 25 years of fish keeping, from goldfish bowls to 800ltr mangrove sumped marine tanks (that was 15 years ago  ) my fw nano tank, all my wife will give me now...... even my 4 year old gets a 120ltr tank to call his...... anyway my nano tank which is one of them little aqua trend 418 with an interpet external filter and very heavily planted with silver sand substrate is home to 4 neons an albino cory and now 5 amano shrimps.
i was originaly going for a marine nano but having never had fresh water shrimps i thought it was about time.

these things just swim around the tank then dissapear for 10 minutes and i cant find them then off they go again.............
kept me very amused last night.

if they sit still for long enough ill get a photo or 3

Congrats on the new shrimp :good:

Be careful, they are addictive, i started with some Anamo to keep my betta company and now have a tank dedicated to them

You have now fallen into their trap now and will be playing the game of how many shrimp can i spot at once forever.

Welcome to the wonderfully wacky world of shrimp. :good:

Soon you will have several tanks devoted to breeding a line of shrimp that breed true. And love it. :shifty:

Haha, i agree with the two above.

I got an amano shrimp to munch algae... then two more.... then 10 cherry shrimp... then 6 amazon ghost shrimp..... then 5 blue shrimp....

and i'm still looking for more.

will the shrimp have settled well and keep me amused for hours on end.
i must have plenty algae i cant see as they are growing out of control
all of them have shed at least twice and have now doubled in size. they have become very tame and very rarely hide. they all seem to sit ontop of the java moss i have at the front of the tank and watch everything that happens outside :)
one of them used to sit on a cabomba frond, swaying back and forward in the water flow then all of a sudden base jump off and dive down on my 4 neons i have in the tank to try and catch one. he never did until yesterday when he managed to grapple one. it was like something out of road runner and coyote  all of a sudden after 2 weeks of trying he got one then there was this pause of #### what do i do now..... the neon shot one way the shrimp the other and he hasnt done it since
im off to find more tankmates today

Amanos are great to watch :D I have five in one of my Dwarf Puffer tanks. They always steal food right from the Puffers' mouths. Also, I use a pipette to feed frozen bloodworms to my puffers and the Amanos often step-stone climb on the puffers' back to get to the pipette and pull the worms out. so funny to watch

hmmm, none of the LFS's had any shrimps apart from one shop that had 2 amano's at £3.75 each :look: and he was getting bamboo's on next week at £8 each :look:
dont think so!!!!

someone on eblag is doing 10 cherries for £10. i think ill just have to order them unless i can find the post from a bloke on here that sells them as well

aw well, ill just have to watch my 5 amanos for a bit longer

Wow that's expensive for shrimp .

Where I work bamboo shrimp are £3.00 - £3.75 (depending on the size when they come in), and amanos are £2.20.

Though we never get dwarf shrimp in :(.

its hard to find them in the tank. im going to do some plant pruning as the cabomba is growing wild and ill try and get some photos after that.
