Sweeeeeeet.
The parents have been hibernating in the plant pot for the best part of a week now.
They were both out this morning, but didn't really look for babies as I thought it would be a few more days yet.
Missus called me in earlier today to say they are both out protecting their babies.
Went in & had a look.
There are about 20-30 or so I think, but there maybe more to come, but we cannot see inside the plant pot.

Pics at some point, but letting them settle for a bit.

Does anyone know if it is safe to put "Plantamin" in with the babies, so we can feed our live plants?

I assume it would be, but thought I would just check.

Many thanks,

Pete

Congratulations mate. Mine all died unfortunately. My own fault as i disturbed them to clean the tank. Hopefully they will spawn again soon. She keep shaking at him so it might not be too long!

Thanks Dave.

And really sorry to hear all yours died.
That is such a shame.
Yes, the shaking is normally a sign of flirting so to speak.
Another week or so & you may have some eggs at least.
Female belly will go really red too.

Good luck Dave & keep us posted mate.

All the best,

Pete

Yeah hopefully mate. Her belly hasn't altered so she's still horny.

Keep us informed about yours too! :good:

Ok, some pics as promised.

Enjoy..........

If you look underneath the Male against the red plants, you can see them.

Again, if you look against the red plant in the middle, you can see them.

Looking good mate!! My last 5 are going tomorrow for a swap of some Ellioti fry, a Ellioti male and some apple snails. :good: Shame really as they're starting to colour up a bit along the top of their fins and the stripe across their bodies.

Keep up the hard work mate, it's obviously paying off. Did you manage to net the filter inlet? I cut a small piece of sponge and placed it in the bottom of the pipe to stop it happening.

Thanks mate.

You'll have to post a pic up of the Ellioti Fry.
They sound interesting.

Yes mate, I did manage to net up the filter(s).
I'll have to show you in another pic, as it looks like there is no net there, but there is.
I had a sponge, but it looked crap, so swapped it for a piece of the missus tights :)
Did this on both tanks.

DIY naughty tights :yahoo:

I'll put a pic up tomorrow & show you.
The filters that is, NOT the missus tights

I'll get some pics of the 3 Kribs in the other tank too.
They are really growing now.

Regards,

Pete

Yeah I can't wait to get them. I have put a piece of sponge inside the filter inlet, can't even tell its there. Mind you, I did all this then the parents ate the fry so it has cost me rather than helped. Lol. But hopefully ready for next time. I have placed a bn in the tank with them to help out with the upkeep, but she hasn't done anything. Haha. Think I am going to remove her back to her original tank. The kribs have started to hide a bit more now so I'm hoping they are preparing for a new lot. Glad you took my advice on the tights, you will have get the missus to get you another pair. ;)

I put my sponge on the outside when I had it on there.
It was not a full proper sponge, it had more like air-holes in it, so it didn't reduce water intake too much.
But the little blighters still go sucked in through it & up into the filter media area.
Problem I have now, is the filter gets clogged around the intake bit with food & plant leaves etc.
Have to clean it off every day.

If your Kribs are hiding again, that should only mean 1 thing.
Good luck mate.

Yes, she is gonna get some more tights too ;)

Regards,

Pete
